Snow Lake Baltistan Pakistan The lake of Snow 🙂 Baltistan Pakistan Snow Lake map is located 16,000 ft 4,877m above sea level. And is approximately 10 miles (16 km) wide. The basin lies at the head of the Biafo and Hispar glaciers. Which spread down from the Hispar Pass in opposite directions. Forming a 61-mile (100 km) river of ice. As much i wanted to find and take shots with glacial lakes in this area. The weather was equally discouraging. It was snowing for 6 days on and off and since morning. Snow Lake was covered with dark clouds and it was snowing snow lake trail.

We stopped in middle of Snow Lake. Traverse for lunch and then started the last crevasse area in post-lunch trekking session. And out of nowhere this little turquoise pond appeared in front of us while it was still snowing. You cant imagine my happiness. 😀

Just like the weather moods were mixed in this scene showing dark clouds, snowfall and sunshine on glacier and crevasses, same was the case with us. Mixed feelings of adrenaline, achievement, success, exhaustion and relief.
It felt like the pass gave us a crossing window and now it was shutting down, disappearing into the oblivion. We were about to exit the crevasse field and then a long never ending slush parade started with 2 ft soft surface.
