The US Treasury mentioned Monday it has sanctioned digital forex mixer Twister Money, labeling the service “a menace to US nationwide safety.”

Twister Money operates on the ethereum blockchain and obscures the origin, vacation spot and events of transactions. It has been used to launder greater than $7 billion since 2019, based on the Treasury’s Workplace of International Belongings Management, including that $455 million was stolen by the Lazarus Group, North Korea’s state-sponsored hacking group.
