Iran Arrests Information Company Deputy After Reported Cyberattack

Iran has arrested the deputy chief editor of Fars information company, state media mentioned, greater than per week after the company was reportedly hit by a cyberattack.
“The deputy head of Fars information company, Abbas Darvish Tavanger, has been arrested for falsifying information,” state broadcaster IRIB mentioned late Monday.
He would stay in custody in the course of the investigation, it added.
In a press release posted on its Telegram channel, Fars mentioned on November 26 that its work had been disrupted by hackers.
A shadowy group that calls itself “Black Reward” later claimed accountability for the cyberattack, saying it had gained entry to dozens of confidential paperwork.
The arrest comes towards the backdrop of nationwide unrest sparked by the September 16 loss of life of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, after her detention for an alleged breach of Iran’s gown code for girls.
